Men in Spex play first gig with New Singer
Men in Spex played their first gig with new singer, Alistair Mackie on 3 June 2002 at Stanton Community Center at a Jubilee Party. Despite a throat infection, Alistair managed to sing throughout the gig. Playing from the back of a lorry, Men in Spex debuted new songs that Alistair had written.

Following Ren's decision to leave the band, Men in Spex have been rehearsing with their new singer, Alistair Mackie. You can see him (and hear some of his songs) at their gig for the Golden Jubilee on 3 June 2002 at Stanton Community Center, or at the Fighting Cocks at Winfarthing on 8 June 2002.

Men in Spex have won the BURBs Soundroom competition. Leaving was voted the best out of 6 tracks that had been choosen for entry into the vote.

Men in Spex Play at Colchester Free Festival
Men in Spex played live at Colchester Free Festival in a special slot on the Jam Stage. They played a 40 minute set of their more rocking numbers.

Men in Spex Continue Recording at Springvale
In sessions on 18 and 19 August 2001, acoustic and electric tracks were laid for several new songs. Sessions will continue over the next week to record bass and vocal parts, and the guitar parts for Baroque 'n' Roll.
